ABSTRACT

The objective of this research is to evaluate the influence of hotels and night clubs on secondary school students. It will help to identify things that attract the attention of the students, to this public places, the type of attention given to them and also possible solutions to reducing the problem of students interest in hotels and night clubs. In view of this, it has become necessary that everybody in this nation should be bent on correcting the moral decadence in our youth. The researcher distributed questionnaires to students and conducted oral interviews with school principals and hotel proprietors. The data derived from these questionnaires were analysed with the aid of some statistical technique including the Chi-Square (x2) distribution and Sample Percentages. This work revealed that siting of hotels and night clubs around schools contribute in no small measures in the moral debasement of students. It also showed that students visit these places at the experience of their academic work leading to poor academic performance. It then concludes that it is the responsibility of everybody in the society to see that these youths are channeled towards the right direction. Government should discourage the establishment of such ventures nearer school or stop further establishment of schools nearer hotels and night clubs.
