ABSTRACT

This study focuses on the impact of personal income tax on capital development in Abia state. Data were collected from secondary sources using an ex-post facto research design. The data collected were then tabulated and analyzed using the simple regression analysis. The result of hypothesis one revealed that actual personal income , tax revenue has a significant effect on total revenue generated. The finding of hypothesis two revealed that that budgeted personal income tax revenue has a significant effect on total revenue generated. It is recommended that Government should try and appoint capable and worthy hands who can able to manage and curb the high level of fraud encountered in collecting tax. Additionally, Government should set out a staff rules against corrupt practices which is rampant with its officials. Finally, Government should try as much as possible to be transparent with its dealings. Especially, they should be able to account for every tax revenue collected.
