ABSTRACT

Farmers change techniques in two ways (Binswanger and Pingall 1988). First they decide to increase the use of input they are familiar with and secondly adopt techniques that are new to them depending on their perception and circumstances. Adoption of new technology to improve productivity depends on the following factors-farmers family size vis-a-vis cheap labour, funds, and extension services to teach new techniques, market for poultry, farmer's experience drugs and type of technology. Tekiewold et al (2006) reported that these factors are affected by farmer’s education and age. Productivity is the hallmark of any productive organization. Productivity provided the basis for achieving organizational purpose. For instance profitability and survival are direct result of productivity. To achieve high productivity, organization such as poultry farms are aware of the need of technology input to help production and sustain productivity.
