ABSTRACT

In developed and developing countries, the urbanization process usually has resulted in a large number of peri-urban centers spread more or less widely throughout the countries (Katzir, 1996). This is due to relatively high rate of population growth and high rate of demand lor lands for various non-agricultural purposes such as for housing, offices, hotels, recreational centers, parks and industries (Siregar, 2006). The high rate of demand for urban lands for non-agricultural purposes brings the need for peri-urban agricultural production.
