ABSTRACT

 This study is focused on the evaluation of international financial reporting standard on the quality of financial reporting of banks in Nigeria and this necessitated the research of this nature because user's of financial report are in dare need of information to guide them when preparing financial statements of banks. In conducting this research data was collected from primary and secondary sources using questionnaire, personal obsertion and rievant 1itera1uve was reviewed so as to provide information for the study. A population of 50 (fifty) person's was used. Taro tanned statistical instrument employed to determine the simple size, this gave 125 persons. However reckless practice among practitioners (Accountants) and non compliance to the IFRS standards over the years has brought the low quality of financial reporting of banks in Nigeria. One of the recommendation us that banking industry in Nigeria should undergo training of their staffs about IFRS constantly
