Effects Of Methanol Extract Of Dialium Guinees Leaves On The Lipid Profile Of Alloxan-Induced Diabetic Rats

ABSTRACT
This study was carried out to determine the effect of methanol extract of guineense leaves on lipid profile of alloxan induced-diabetic rats. From the iesult obtained, triacylg!yccrol (TAG) showed that there was a slight signiflcant (P<0.05) increased in both the plant extract and nornial posiLive control groups at both 50mg/kg — 100mg/kg of plant extracts. Then the total cholesterol results showed that there is a high significant (P><0.05) increase in both the 50mg/kg body weight — 100mg/kg body weight of plant extract compared to negative and positive control groups. Low density lipoproteins (LI)L) showed a good significant (P><0.05) increase in plant extract compared to the negative and positive control groups. Therefore, both TAG, total cholesterol, LDL, 1-11)1 were reduced by the plant extract in a!Ioxan-induccd diabetic rats which caused the nsks of heart disease to the experimented rats. > difference in the 50mg/kg — 100mg/kg body weight compared to thc normal aad positive control, also, from the result, high density lipoprotein (I-li)l) showed a high significant (P<0.05) increased in both the plant extract and nornial posiLive control groups at both 50mg/kg — 100mg/kg of plant extracts.
