ABSTRACT

The presence of bioactive compounds namely saponin, alkaloids, tannins and Hydrolysable glucoside were determined qualitatively. On the three different species of Vernonia. Vernonia amygda1ina has 7% alkaloid, Vernonia Biafrae olive & Rien has 4% while Vernonia coifesta has 1%. Then V. Confesta has 2.1% of saponin, V. Biafrae olive & Rum has 2.5% while V.A rnygdalina has 3.5% after using lOg and 20g as original weight of the three samples for both saponin and alkaloid respectively.
